Bioluminescence

A lagoon where dinoflagellates light the water at the boat, the paddle or a hand. You truly see it on dark nights, not under a full moon.

Almost at nightfall you boat out to the phenomenon. The water lights when it is stirred. If you get in, you see the glow on your skin.

The water turns blue when you paddle or get in. Photos on this page are from that same lagoon outing, not from a studio or another coast.
